Triveni Sangam. Prayag is the confluence of three of the holiest rivers
of the Hindu mythology, the holy Ganga, Yamuna and the
mythical Saraswati. Allahabad is the largest cities in Uttar
Pradesh. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Brahma also referred
to it as `Tirth Raj' or the `king of all pilgrimage centers'.
Allahabad Ewing Christian College is one of the oldest colleges
established in 1901 in India by Dr. Arthur Ewing, with only eight
students. It was an idea of the East India Company. At that time,
initially it was named as Vernacular school. By 1912, when Dr. Ewing
passed away, the college had its own Physics lab, Princeton Hostel, Rhea
Hostel, Engineering buildings, the main building, Agricultural
department, Philadelphia Hostel and Turner Hostel. Allahabad Ewing
Christian College was a leading educational institution of Allahabad,
during early 19th century. During in 1995, Ewing Christian College
achieved its autonomous status institution in India which could offer
its own examinations under the affiliation with Allahabad University. |
